The Eagles are back in the NFC Championship Game after losing for the first time since playing in the Super Bowl in the 2022 season. Philly pulled away late to beat the Los Angeles Rams (28-22) in the NFC Divisional round on Sunday with a Saquon Barkley touchdown run that put the game on ice in the fourth quarter. Barkley finished his day with 205 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries, and a standout Eagles defense forced and recovered two fumbles on a snowy day at The Linc.
The Commanders are one of the NFL’s hottest teams and best stories of the 2024 season, and they find themselves a step away from the 2025 Super Bowl after beating the No. 3 seed Tampa Bay Buccaneers (23-20) and No. 1 Detroit Lions (45-31) on the road in the NFC Playoffs. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has been historically good in his first season with a calm demeanor and elite throwing and running skills. After completing 69 percent of his pass attempts in the regular season, Daniels connected on 68.6 percent of his passes against the Bucs and 71 percent against the Lions while throwing for 567 combined yards and four touchdowns to no interceptions.
The Eagles and Commanders are set for a third showdown this season, but this time, the stakes are at their peak—a trip to Super Bowl 59 is on the line.
During the regular season, these NFC East rivals split their two matchups, with the Eagles claiming a 26-18 win at home. However, their journeys through the playoffs have showcased just how much each team has to offer.
The Eagles earned the NFC’s No. 2 seed with an impressive 14-3 record. They advanced through the postseason with a 22-10 win over the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round and a 28-22 victory against the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round.
On the other side, the Commanders made their mark as the No. 6 seed with a solid 12-5 regular season. They edged out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20 in the Wild Card Round before lighting up the scoreboard in a 45-31 win over the Detroit Lions in the Divisional Round.
