iPhones Now Connect to Elon Musk’s Starlink Without an Antenna
iOS 18.3 has just received direct integration with Starlink satellites, the company owned by entrepreneur Elon Musk. The feature will be available only to T-Mobile customers in the U.S. and, for now, remains in a testing phase with a select group of users.
Initially, the satellite service is limited to text messaging, but T-Mobile has confirmed that voice messaging will also be available soon. Since the iPhone 14, Apple smartphone users have been able to use this type of service, but only through the Globalstar network.
This project has been in progress since 2022 when the partnership between Starlink and T-Mobile began. Previously, the feature had already been tested on some Samsung smartphones, such as the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6.
There is still no official timeline for when the service will be available to everyone, but according to T-Mobile, the expectation is that it will be fully operational by 2025.
